Sharks are Going Extinct

Sharks are going extinct

It's much, much worse than you think

So have a drink

Pretend to think

Because I won't be sleeping a wink!

Gullible

The gullibility of humans is our downfall.

The propaganda of the ruling class

Believe the lies they tell you with no questions

And then it will be you out on the grass.

They want to own the houses now as well

When working people cannot buy a home.

They feed us what they do not feed the hogs

In any other country but our own.

To avoid paying taxes on their wealth,

A trick they play upon the hapless masses

They pay the politicians to exclude them

Thus broke people are paying all the taxes

All so they can hoard more than they need

But Karma is a bitch, and she is real.

These nihilists believe in nothing.

But you and I both understand the deal.

Deforestation/Reforestation

Deforestation

Is the cohabitation

That's corrupting fair nations

And ruining relations.

Think of the trees!

I exclaim with a breeze

As I'm fixing to freeze

In this tree with no leaves.

Lock me up! Lock me up!

Send me to bed!

You can't conduct murder

These trees are sacred!

China's not perfect,

Nobody is, but,

Those fuckers are planting

More trees than they cut!

Ignorance is Bliss

 I think back

To when I was happiest

And it may have been cuddled

With you there.

The two of us

Knowing that a future

Wasn't in the cards for us

Determined

Not to let that get in the way.

Living solely in the moment.

The two of us

Cuddled there.

Perfection

To me, you were perfection.

In every single way.

A visage of such beauty

I lost the words to say

I saw you 'cross the counter

Finishing your shift

Every time, my heart, it jumped

Your guise gave it a lift

But nothing's ever promised

And Fate would split us both

At least you knew I loved you.

Some would say that's growth.

Sonnet One

If love is all you’ve got I have enough

Please bring me something challenging to me

As difficult a problem as you’ve got

And I will solve it expeditiously.

The only time I’ve loved was in my youth

The only time I’ve lost to that degree.

I wish that, then, I realized the truth.

Relationships are idiosyncrasy.

I married someone I did not respect

But hidden were these truths to my young brain.

I didn’t treat her well and the effect

Was that I lost what I could not obtain.

They say that wisdom’s wasted on the Old.

At least that is the story we’ve been told.

Painful

I thought that I might write a poem today

On sentimental thoughts within my brain.

I never quite know what they’re going to say.

But I’m always assured there will be pain.

When thoughts are overflowing like a pot

That someone (you) has left unattended.

Then I examine all that I have got.

And try to mend the fences that need mending.

For all of Earth is my Shakespear’n stage

And my Ophelia’s the game of life.

When you cross her, she responds with rage

And carves humanity up without a knife.

And if my lover turns to target you,

Some people aren’t meant for this world, it's true.

Global Trek - Maiden Muse

Upon a night unlit by moon or star,

I gazed upon the visage of a lass.

And though the night was cold and she was far,

I still could see her image through the glass.

I set aside the mirror and I thought

Of everything surrounding her, I’d seen.

Then, taking it all in my brain, I sought

To use the information that I’d gleaned.

And so I set to trek across the globe.

I knew just where to look from all the clues.

And when I saw her my poor heart exploded

Finally, I’d met my Maiden Muse.

I crossed such ancient lands by land and sea

I crossed three oceans, longing to find thee.

Thirteen

I had an aching concept for a poem.

It wormed its way into my brain today.

I felt compelled to give a proper home

To all these lovely words that came to play.

And as it played it spread to half a page.

Contrived, it told an old familiar tale.

About an evil wizard and a sage.

Who lived in a fair Kingdom in the Vale.

But much like many old, familiar plots

It seemed to be a little bit clichéd.

And even though impressive in its spots

It’s best that I just leave it where it lay.

For there will always be another worm.

An exercise in madness, I confirm.

Moon Attendant

 I dreamed a lonely world that’s not

Forsaken nor is stirred although it

Does get kinda lonely in my head.

The only issue, guv —

Well, it’s about the girl I love.

I haven’t seen'a hair of her in bed.

She must have gone away

    I really hate she couldn’t stay, but there’s a

Whole entire village to sustain.

There’s lots of it to come you’re gonna

    Feel a little dumb

But every little error feeds my growing brain.

With all of us dependent

    On an astronaut attendant

To bring us food and water from the moon.

The reason I’m insistent

Is the last girlfriend was distant and I’d not

Like to see her face again real soon.

Eighteen

When I was only 18 I had

Seen a lot of things

Living under Father’s thumb —

To little hope, I’d cling.

I tried to stay away from home

As often as I could

A little time to see the world

Would do enormous good.

I saw it was much bigger than

My father would confess

And lots to keep one entertained —

Goodness, we were blessed.

We saw all of the buildings and

We loved to walk downtown.

Things did not go South until

The time I settled down.

Way too young to think so big;

Alas, I made mistakes.

And through all fault of my unknown,

My heart would have to break.

Some would look at my life now

And think I never mended

But lack of my material needs

Has been my true unending.
